Netflix For Wii Confirmed!

November 3, 2009

US movie streaming service Netflix will be made available on Wii in the near future, according to StreamingMedia’s Dan Rayburn.

The Source and Info

According to StreamingMedia, Netflix is testing it for Nintendo Wii, and will be out for Wii in the distance future. Can this be true? Does GameAlerts buy it? Yes and no. Netflix has always wanted to expand there services by taking it to the next level, they put it on the Xbox 360. Releasing it for PS3. Seems no surprise that it”s coming to Wii.

According to StreamingMedia

“an undisclosed source close to the project has confirmed that the Big N is currently testing Netflix streaming on the Wii, and that it’ll be rolled out to the public “very soon.” Our initial reaction is to think that “very soon” will translate into “before the holidays,” though we all know that only time will tell. But hey, when you’ve been waiting for this to happen since March, patience comes naturally.”

What We Heard

“What I’m hearing is that Nintendo originally planned to bring the Netflix service to the Wii before the end of this year, which still might take place, but that Nintendo is also considering holding off on the Netflix service until they release their next generation Wii HD unit in early 2010.”

The Conclusion:

Netflix for Wii will be streaming the same way as the PS3. You will need to use a disc, but for PS3 owners, it’s free but for some reason it is 9.99 for Wii owners? Now, this turns GameAlerts off as why a charge for the disc if the PS3 owners aren’t charged. This is getting a little fishy, as why a cost? This piece of news here is either a “yes or no”. Netflix has not confirmed to any of this. I bet Netflix doesn’t even know this “rumor” is crawling all over the internet.

This is pretty huge news! The Nintendo Wii has been getting SOOOO much speculation over the system. When I thought the speculation over the “Wii HD” was enough, now Netflix For Wii?

What is fishy like it said in this article, is that why the cost for 9.99 a disc, when the PS3 owners get it FREE. This makes me think it’s fake. No one knows, but Netflix of course, but we will just have to wait.

Its good to hear that Netflix is coming to the Wii too, I expected as much when I heard about the PS3 was getting it. Though I doubt there will be a 9.99 charge to the Wii owners, in the end I think this is just rumors from competitive system owners as usual. Besides, even if they do add it to the Wii HD what would stop them from adding it to the current Wii? To be honest I think it would be great for the Wii’s long term life span, and Nintendo likely already sees this too.

Oh, really? Well, thats to bad, but honestly is a good thing. It means the Wii’s lifespan is being extended just a lil longer. heh And means Netflix should be in the Wii’s near future hopefully.
